Kai’s New Game, Exclusive to Grandma Only

June 27, 2007

Ryan’s mom visited and stayed with us for a few days, bearing fun gifts and treats for Kai. It was so nice having company with me during the day! Kai had a blast, as you can imagine, getting extra loves and attention.

For Father’s Day, I thought Ryan might appreciate some professional pics of Kai, and heck, why not throw myself in there too?

My only regret is that I am utterly incapable of holding a secret and have an insane desire to give gifts early, so I ended up showing Ryan the digital files two weeks before Father’s day. At least the frame holding the prints was a surprise on F-day.

Sunday Morning after the Party

061707+109.jpgHere’s Kai with second cuz Garrett! We visited San Luis last Saturday to meet up with Ryan’s family as they helped Lindy move out of her dorm and into her apartment, and to also attend the Ashby’s graduation party. Sarah and Aaron were so nice to let us stay at their home. They hosted an awesome graduation party for Trevor and Kiwi. We had a lot of fun catching up with friends from SLO and enjoying the perfect weather! Next time we’ll have to allow more time to pick up some to-die-for Madonna cake and pastries from the Dutch bakery Utopia. Yum doesn’t even begin to describe it.

“Cream to the Ice” and “CC”

June 10, 2007

Remember when your parents spoke in “code” around you–spelling words out or mouthing things they obviously don’t want you to pick up on? With Kai’s developing vocab and memory of an elephant, we’ve resorted to speaking in parent-code. Ruined is the evening we casually drop “cottage cheese,” sending Kai running to the fridge asking for “Chees?? Chees??!” when it’s actually “All gawwwwn!.” “CC” is the new cottage cheese and the occasional ice cream treat is now referred to as “Cream to the Ice.”
