Good Look Cookbook Post: Last-Minute Japanese Tape

May 27, 2011

I have post at Good Look Cookbook on how to create some decorative tape. Check it out!

And I hope you have an enjoyable long weekend. We have plans to swim, play with puppies, go to the temple, and eat Five Guys. That’s right, we converted from In-n-Out and are proud of it. I know there are haters out there — bring it on! ; )

My Best Friend is Best Friends with Oprah…

May 24, 2011

…via TV of course. So it was natural to have something Oprah-themed for her birthday! A quick search pulled up the blog NoBiggie and a download for these Oprah cupcake toppers. Unfortunately, I didn’t have that nifty scallop circle cutter and my circle cutouts looked as if I cut them out with my left hand. In an attempt to distract from my amateur hour with the scissors, I embellished with ribbon and tissue paper.

She loved the toppers (and totally aced some O trivia questions thrown her way) and is saving them for her Oprah finale party. For all the fans, I feel for you, I do. I haven’t watched an Oprah episode in ages, but I can sympathize! When Battlestar Gallactica and LOST ended, I felt like I was punched in the gut for days.

of scissors and felt

May 22, 2011

The few felt animal shapes in the kids’ church bag I had made sometime back was dwindling and looking pretty sad. I think we were down to just a single dolphin, a cloud, and a sun. I thought some geometric shapes would be fun and encourage some abstract design, so I cut out simple triangles and made a couple of felt boards for the boys’ laps.

Then I got to thinking that robot shapes would also be fun. And a lot cheaper than those magnetic sets I see at places like Cost Plus. Though those are really cute, too.

Here is a template you can download if you’d like to make some felt shapes for your little ones (although I enjoy the triangles myself). I’ll forewarn you, however, trimming out the robot pieces gets tedious. I modified the file from my original design, hoping it’ll make the cutting process a bit easier. A pair of small, sharp scissors helps too.

(As a kind reminder, all downloads are strictly for personal use only. Thank you!)

These happy boys

May 16, 2011

They were anything but happy campers during the three-hour drive down south, but joy was restored as soon as we arrived in Legoland.

A much better time-waster than the breast-augmentation app.

Service Coupons for Mom

May 8, 2011

I threw put together these service coupons for an activity today in Primary. Mother’s Day is already upon us, but acts of service can be rendered any day!

Download a sheet of fill-in coupons here.

They Call Me Mommy

May 7, 2011

I was cracking up at the kids this morning because they were so impressed by the as-seen-on-tv products during Saturday morning cartoon breaks. “Mommy, you HAVE to get these furniture sliders! You can move things around. Even a CAR!” Or, “Mommy, you NEED this wallet. You can drive a truck over it, and it won’t get messed up. And it won’t get detected by VISUAL SCANNERS!” And back before they got pillow pets from their Lola, all I heard was, “Mom, pillow pets are GREAT for travel!”

I feel blessed and excited that we get to add another child to the mix. ‘He’ or ‘she’, we still don’t know, but really wanting to know. Here I am at three months (obligatory hand under belly to show emphasis of baby/bloat).

Slowly feeling almost normal again.
