Would you could you tangerine tango?

January 30, 2012

I first thought Pantone’s color of the year Tangerine Tango was a bit of a doozy until I happened upon a few pieces that executed the bold color choice in a more subtle way. And I loved it! See sources for items above and more at my guest post for DotcomsForMoms.

And to Kristine and Miranda, I’ll be sending you some Valentine cards! Thanks for all the romantic movie recs too. I’ve got Elizabethtown, The Road Home, and North and South queued up on my watch list (thanks Lindsay, Susan, and Abby!)

Cozy Fall Style Guest Post

November 27, 2011

Last week, I did a guest post at DotComsForMoms on some clothing pieces for fall.
Visit here for sources.

And hope you had a great Thanksgiving weekend! My mom and stepdad visited and we sort of cheated with our Thanksgiving feast by ordering Harris Teeter’s prime-rib takeout, pies from Trader Joe’s, and even some sushi. Not your typical Thanksgiving dinner but everyone here (besides me) was adamant about NO turkey!

Miu Miu Style Wrapping + DIY Glitter Labels

November 14, 2011

I think many a blogger/designer/fashionista was stunned when these glitter Miu Miu booties from the fall 2011 collection debuted a while back. So far, I’ve seen painted nails and a cake inspired by these amazing shoes. The silver and gold glitter screams holiday and cheer to me, and so felt inspired to experiment with some packaging ideas.

I had some gray, round Paper Source labels on hand that I coated with spray mount, then sprinkled with gold Martha Stewart Fine Glitter. I did the spraying and sprinkling in a very large paper shopping bag to keep the mess in check. So that my round labels would be easier to pull off, I went ahead and removed the ‘negative’ label area.

And I punched these silver medallions out of silver glitter scrapbook paper and tied off with velvet ribbon.

Post, post, postpartum Style

November 3, 2011

Totally random, as I never do any style posts, but this is what happens when your wardrobe is whittled down to only three tops and a single pair of pants. And I might as well call this a fantasy getup because I doubt Thakoon and Miu Miu will ever grace my closet, but I can’t help pining for some of my non-pregnant style favorites. Like high waisted skirts, structured blouses that can be tucked in, tights, and super high heels. As reality has it, I am waddling around in leggings and flip flops, trying my best to manage with an extra 45 lbs. Yep.

High-waist skirt for sale

September 5, 2009

image1xl

Speaking of modest clothes, I have a high-waist pencil skirt from British store ASOS up for sale. Brand new, never been worn. Just tried on in vain. It would cost too much to have the necessary alterations made, which is why I’m attempting to foist it onto you.

UK size 10, which translates to a medium. The waist measures 35 inches around. Size chart here. Paid $45, but asking only $28+shipping. Email me if you’re interested.

Hope you enjoy your Labor Day weekend!

For Fun

September 3, 2009

aug09SunBest

I’ve been inspired lately by all the outfit and style posts popping up on the blogosphere, and thought it would be fun to bring all like-minded, style-conscious, modestly dressed ladies together in a wardrobe-remix type Flickr pool.

So here it is: Sunday Best, where we prove that ‘modestly fashionable’ is  not a contradiction.

The group is public, so if you have a modest outfit to share, join in (you’ll have to start a Flickr account if you don’t already have one). Hope to see you!

Big Florals

Love all the big floral patterns I’m seeing all over the place. Maybe because it reminds me of the dresses I wore when I was little. Helloo 80′s and early 90′s.

Ugly boot love

uglyboots

I hold my love and disdain for these in equal parts. Trendy they may be, pretty they most certainly are not. But regardless, these booties make my heart beat fast. Their price tags are astronomically out my type of budget, so a rummage through Ventura’s many thrift stores is in order.

And More Zooey Love

Zooey Deschanel in a commercial spot above for Cotton. And oh how I love her wardrobe.
