Getting ready for General Conference, hooray!
March 30, 2010

In Primary last Sunday, we handed out church leader flashcards to the children as an Easter gift, and also to get them thinking about the upcoming General Conference.
These were really easy to make, mainly because you can download high-res, print-quality photos of all the church leaders here. So awesome. The backside of the photos are printed with the leaders’ names. I then drilled (like literally, drove a hand powerdrill through 40+ sets of cards) a hole in the corner, and bound each set with ribbon when I ran out of book rings. Which apparently, are nearly impossible to find in my part of the United States.
Now, this would be the part where I say click here to download, but unfortunately, the church has strict usage rights on its copyrighted material so I can’t share my doc. But its very simple to put together. You just have to download the pictures (15 total), resize to about business-card size (I laid mine out in Illustrator), print, cut out, then bind with ribbon or book rings.
I am so looking forward to conference! Is it bad to have “favorites”? I can’t help having Elder Bednar as mine!

i hope it’s not bad to have favorites because i certainly do! elder bednar is mine too because he was my college president when i went to ricks. also president eyring and elder holland.
holland all the way!
(if i am ever in a primary presidency you can bet i will be referencing your blog a lot. you have the best ideas!)
Hi, I just stumbled onto your blog, and have fallen in love in a major way. (meant in a friendly, non-creepy way) I am an lds graphic designer and mama of two… too! and so all that might account for the affinity I’m feelin’. Thanks for the inspiration! I’ll definitely be back!

What a brilliant idea!
I’m super excited for conference. I like being surprised by speakers who really bring it home, so I don’t go in with favorites.
I love Holland and Uchtdorf. Also love Bednar and Oaks. If I really start thinking about it I’m going to name them all though.
For me it is Pres Uchtdorf all the way. I love the cards and I am looking forward to Conference this weekend.
My mom showed me your flashcards on Sunday as they were driving home. What a great idea! I realized how I myself need them. How great it would if I was able to match the name, with the face, with the voice to ALL of them!
I love to hear Elder Bednar — even better to read his talk afterwards. And I love President Uchtdorf, perhaps because I speak German and served in Germany.
great idea! my kids always go for this – a poster with the conf. Ensign center pullout taped on it, along with other pictures – then when they hear a certain word or see a certain speaker during conference, they put a sticker on that picture. they get some jellybeans after for a job well done. :)
holland is my fave, hands down! eyring and bednar are close runners-up.
Do you have any left over? We weren’t there on Sunday (obviously or else he would have gotten one), but I would still love for Riley to have one.
Jenn, these are so cute! What a great way to get chilluns excited for conference!
Those are so cute! I’ve been meaning to respond back to your email about primary. I think I haven’t because I don’t have the answer for making primary more reverent. All I can say is you are not alone. The more Primary women I talk to and the more Primaries I visit, the more i realize it is what we all struggle with. I guess the best we can do is try, and when that fails, be okay with the fact that they are just children and have to learn reverence somewhere.
Thanks for always sharing your cute stuff!
Useful post. Lucky me I found your web-site by indicent, I saved it so I can locate it next time.
