Good Boys
August 21, 2009

This evening, the kids didn’t mind too much being dragged around numerous thrift stores, picking up some Holga film, and searching up and down Main Street for my friend Angela because I had forgotten my phone at home. An Auto Trader mag kept Dax busy most of the time. Cars? Boy? Yes, that makes sense.
And the uber-hipster mega-chain has landed in downtown Ventura, following on the heels of American Apparel, which makes me think Anthropologie won’t be too far behind. And as much as I love these stores, especially Urban O, contrived coolness and all, it’s very sad to see all the little boutiques and antique shops slowly going out of business. Such is the evolution of quaint Southern California downtowns.

It’s amazing how much downtown has changed. Every time we visit VTA there’s a new store or restaurant.
Kiwi: Funny, we think the exact same thing of SLO!
Love the picture of Kai, very cute! I love thrift store hopping. Fun!
well, I consider Ventura central coast rather than southern california, because then that would make us neighbors…almost. But I agree that it’s sad that fun little shops are being swallowed up by big style machines. People want lots of cheap, disposable crap and that’s kind of sad.
Seeing that you just went, are you still going to be up for going thrifting with me on Monday?
I know, I have to admit I’m pretty excited about UO. I love their bags. Nice that you can take the boys into the thrift stores — I think The Destroyer, aka Katie might be too much for all those delicately placed displays.
I just spotted this post… Amazing!
How are the awesome thirft stores holding on down there!? I do miss thrifting in Ventura!
