Happy Tickets
July 21, 2009
A friend of mine recently shared a tip from Dr. Sear’s The Discipline Book that uses a ticket reward system for young children, as an alternative to a star chart. Our method differs a little from Dr. Sears’ in that we use the tickets in conjunction with 1-2-3 Magic, and Kai’s ultimate goal is to have three tickets at dinnertime, but I think it’s working. Score 1 for mom! (Or -1 for that awful run-on sentence.)

I designed these with our objective of three in mind, but if you’re interested in downloading what Kai dubbed ‘Happy Tickets’ click here for the PDF file.

That is such a good idea! I’m downloading now…and sending the link to my sisters!
Great idea and great design! We’ll have to try it with Alina.
Cute idea! Kids love reward systems. But I would give you more then 1 point for how cute your “Happy Tickets” are.
We could really use some ‘Happy Tickets’ around here…
Nice.
Can you make me some “unhappy tickets.” I’d like to pass some of those out today…
Cutey Cute!!! Are they working? I have a chart, but have totally blown it off this summer. I’ll have to try the happy tickets until school when I get back the old chore chart/money system. I’ll be sure to link to this one too.

Thanks so much for this idea – I love Dr Sears and I have his books – but it was a great reminder to see your download
This is great but what sort of things do you give as treats and what shouldn’t you give – any ideas or pointers!
Thanks
i been leaving these coupons anonymously on people’s desks at work (the people i like). they are on their best behavior thinking someone is watching them. lol
I love these!!! I have a strong willed wonderful 3 year old daughter that I think these will work great with! Thanks so much for sharing!
Love these…will be adding a link on my blog shortly to your post. :D
Have a wonderful Sunday!
The are great – we have been using carnival tickets, but this design is so fab & I love the “happy” angle. The only thing that would make it better is more color & number options – I would totally pay for a customizable template. :)
I just printed mine off… THANK YOU!!! You are such a sweety!! I love these and hope to be able to use them with success!
Blessings-
Amanda

Jenn, my sister and all her friends love these! Now her kids are the most helpful kids on the block and they sit down and politely eat their dinner too! She rewards them with pennies in exchange for the tickets…a small price to pay for such wonderful behavior! Thanks again!

I adore the look of these tickets! I use 1-2-3 Magic as well (in a classroom setting) and love it. I was wondering, at what point in the system do you give your child their tickets? Is it a reward for staying off three for a certain length of time, for not being counted at all, or am I completely missing the mark? lol
If possible, as you gain expertise, would you mind updating your blog with more information?
