Holgashop
June 30, 2009

I was so close to buying a Holga camera today, and even found one in town that was decently priced (you best not spend fifty bucks on one from Urban Outfitters!). But I keep holding out. There are so many toy cameras out there, I’m not sure which one I want to start out with.
Anywho, I can fake it in Photoshop in the meantime. This is the best Holga Photoshop tutorial I’ve tried out thus far.
Couple notes in case you want to try it out for yourself: After I flattened my image, I desaturated it some and moved the Hue slider (Image>Adjustments>Hue/Saturation) to the left just a little bit. I also added just a tiny bit of noise (Filter>Noise>Add Noise). I feel that these two adjustments make the image look as if it were scanned in from a print. At least to my untrained eye. These images are supposed to look crappy, right? Because crappy is the new cool!

ummm… I know that post was about photograpy, but all I can think about is how cute that skirt is! where did you get it?!
Hi Katie. That skirt is from Forever 21. : )
Crappy job!
I love it! Thanks for the tutorial!
Your skirt is awesome, too. Now I’m off to Forever 21 to check it out. ;)
You could always just put them in Polaroid-like format.

Oh, can’t wait to see the new blog look!
I have several PS actions that give this look. I didn’t realize it was called Holga after the camera? We used to do all kinds of “real” edits to photos when I worked at Fossil. Now, it’s so easy with Photoshop. I would never go back to the old way. LOL!
If you are looking for some good free actions, I finally organized my Free Download page. Yay! There are a bunch there.
P.S. You are looking so stylish and hot on the beach:-)
