All last week, we were sick. Horribly, miserably, disgustingly sick. It was a week of crying, blowing chunks, loss of appetites, and pill-popping (The Ibuprofen type. Hospital strength). Getting sick isn’t new to us. Shoot, we’ve been doing it all winter long. But having it last a whole week and seeing Kai run down and sad has been, well,…sad. I missed his funny, high-pitched, cackle-y giggles like crazy. Nothing Ryan and I did brought out more than a smile on his face. My daily goal of getting Kai to laugh at least once went unfulfilled. It was as if all the joy was sapped out of our little baby.

But alas, it’s a new week, and we’re on the road to recovery. I’m overjoyed to announce that the cackle is finally back. Though not quite in full force as in normal, healthy times, it’s still the best sound in the world.
