Isn’t it funny how prep for a craft usually takes much longer than the actual craft itself? Even if Kai prefers to smear paint everywhere and inevitably takes off to play with cars or Star Wars Legos, I still enjoy myself.

In case you try this: 1) Acrylic paint works much better than tempera, and 2) You get a better print if you lightly dab the paint onto the potato using your fingertip instead of dipping it into the paint. Happy printing!

I am FOR sure going to try this! My boys would love it. I agree about it taking much longer to prep/clean-up a project than the actual project itself… why is that?!

And your little guy is adorable!

Cool project. I remember potato printing as a kid. FUN! I’ll probably have to wait to try this with Natalie. She’d probably try to eat the potato AND the paint. The girl has a problem.

you are so crafty. If I attempted to cut out shapes my poor girls would have oblong wanna-be circles, and uneven squares, and I’m afraid that’s it.

I love how you captured what really happens when you set out to do a craft project with kids.

Oooh…I’d forgotten how fun this can be. I’ll have to sit down and do a project with my kids once we return home, get over the jet-lag and return to normal life. What is normal anyway though? :)

p.s. can’t wait to see your shop!

What a great idea! I need to start doing more crafts with Riley. I just need to get over my fear of messes, especially those involving paint.
