Kai thinks this is hilarious.
Earlier today, he presented himself to me with a crayon shoved up his nose. I imagine his feelings to be of accomplishment and satisfaction. And, discomfort. I hope. Conversely, I am feeling anxiety, and apprehension as I await the next thing to go up there.
(And pic above — that’s a tiny ball up his nose. FYI.)

Hey Jenn! I love your site (it has great feng shui– so calming), but this is the first time I have commented. Your husband’s brother was my husband’s mission companion in Russia.
ANYWAY, I just heard about Prop 8, blogged about it, checked out your site and saw that you had a Prop 8 button on your sidebar! Lucky that you guys are in CA and can vote for it– we moved from Cali last summer and are just trying to do our part out here in Florida. Anyway, just thought it was cool! Love your blog!
YOWSA! Time to go on round the clock nose watch! Great photo.
Oh dear.
Stuff like this scares the crap out of me.
Did he just blow it out or did you have to see a doc?
Sorry I’ve been MIA. It’s busy-busy at my house, and I tweaked my back. Not a lovely combo for sitting at the computer!
Jen, it runs in the family! You never know what kind of genes you are marrying in to!
When was Brad was little he went to his dad telling him his nose hurt. His dad (Kai’s g-grandpa) got the flashlight to look up Brad’s nose. A reflective eye was shining back at him! Brad had taken the eye off his teddy bear and stuck it up his nose. I don’t know how it came out, but Lyle tells the story very well and I’ve heard it several times ;-)
By the way, our Prop 8 sign was stolen from our front yard last night. So was our neighbor’s sign. Oppositional ethics?
I was just at a baby shower last week and we were talking about scary experiences that we’ve had with our kids (Halloween themes shower). Someone told us about a time when one of their friends kids put a bean in each ear and by the time it started causing an ear ache they took him to the doctor and the doctor pulled out a spouted bean!!!
For the nose, the best way to get something that’s stuck in your kiddos nose is to plug the other nostril and blow in their mouth.
Oh no! Hope Kai is ok. I don’t know if I could handle that. Why do kids like to do this? Is it to torture us as parents or provide amusement?
Hey everyone! Kai is a-ok. Ryan was able to get the ball out just fine. Kiwi, that story of the bean is frightening. And gross! But I really hope this newfound experiment of Kai’s doesn’t escalate to a trip to the ER. Hasn’t even been a year since the last time we’ve been there…
That is hilarious! Boys are just sooo different than girls and I love to read about your adventures!
Wow…love that shot! Maya has done something similar with nostril-sized food bits. Too funny:)
oh no… I am not looking forward to that phase, Hannah has only attempted her pencils so far- which hurt so it didn’t last long. kids are crazy. -keely
I would be freaking out about now and not taking pictures! ha. You are calm under pressure:-)
