She’s almost here
October 19, 2011

I’m getting closer and closer, and as if I weren’t excited enough, bloggers, family members (people everywhere it seems!) are having their babies.
So, a topic that frequently comes up with the boys is “How is the baby going to come out?” And let me tell you, I am not ready to have that conversation with them. So I vaguely tell them that there is a “Baby-coming-out-hole” and of course, they ask “Where’s that?” I don’t want to be a complete liar, so I bite the bullet and say it’s near my bottom. And I don’t know how it is with girls, but the moment anyone says “bottom” within earshot of the boys, they bust up laughing and the conversation pretty much degrades from there. Birthing to them is such funny business.

hilarious! i love that she’ll have two older brothers. i had two older brothers (as well as three younger brothers) and they were so sweet and protecting of me (most of the time!)
can’t wait to see photos of her! hang in there lady!
haha that’s a great way to say it. i think i just laughed too. is that immature? probably.
i think most pregnant women would like to back out at this point. My mom always said when she was in labor (times 8 kiddos) that she always thought “I don’t want to do this right now… not today”.
but the results are unreal. and you are having a GIRL! that is so, so exciting.

so soon! I have to get that box of clothes to you before this baby comes! I’ll get on that…
oh my gosh that is so funny! i don’t even know what i would have said in that situation but sounds like you handled that very well :) so excited for you!
yay! how exciting!
best evvvver!
During my 3rd pregnancy my oldest, Liam, who was 5 at the time, had asked the same question and I had given him the same ‘special hole’ answer but he never asked where the hole was. One day completely removed from the conversation we were having he announced “Mom, wouldn’t it be funny if the baby came out of your bum?” then he laughs at how clever he is. Joke’s on him! Ha. Now, at 8, he knows how it all works.
Good luck with the birthing! Did you go early with the boys?
oh you’re so cute. love the photo
Living in a house with a doula as a mom, my boys have a nice clinical knowledge of how babies come out. You’d be surprised by how interested they can be in it (they’ve watched many a birth on YouTube) without asking how the baby gets in (which is the conversation I am not excited about having). And really, nothing is funnier than a three year old running around saying “ootanus” and “bagina.”
ha ha ha love this.
I remember when my mom broke the news to me and my sister; I felt so strange.
ooh! Jenn you are so so close! so excited for you!
for some reason Zoe thinks babies “come out of the momma’s foot” lol
This is my first time to your blog and I love it! Congrats on being so uber preggers. My husband and I just had our first baby girl ten weeks ago. What a total blessing!!! Children are so amazing!
hooray! you’re almost done! and yes, bums and tinkers are a constant source of conversation around here. i have yet to explain to ANY of the real words or anything yet…
ugh.
Oh my goodness you look so cute! Can’t wait to see her! So excited (and jealous) you’re having a girl!!
