They know!
August 7, 2009

My kids must have found out that I’m easily scared, because they collaborated on this little photo shoot and left the images for me to find on my camera.
Over the course of my lifetime, I’ve been scarred by those who I trust most. Everyone from my mom, who claimed that as a child, ghost fingers would grab at her and try to pull her under the bed in the middle of the night, to my best cousin, who swore that bloody Mary visited her in the bathroom numerous times. Even aunts and uncles would tell me stories about legless demons they saw floating around in the Philippines, and also about their supernatural experiences with Ouija boards. Oh, almost forgot about The Hand. Sometimes when I got into trouble, my family thought it’d be funny to tell me that The Hand was going to come out of the dresser and get me. See? You’d be scarred, too. Unless, all families did this?
But now that I’m seasoned and matured, I believed I had left all those fears behind. I do hide behind my hands during some intense scenes during Lost, but with it and all the rest of my silly childhood memories, I can laugh it off and rationalize that it’s not real and to just calm down already. But I forgot that I have two boys. Therefore, I can expect a lifetime of them scaring the _____ out of me.

I have to laugh a little b/c I think growing up Filipino does this to us. I remember hearing these ghost stories too and I always had to check in my closets and under my bed before going to sleep. Also make sure all the doors are locked at night (several times before going to bed). Sick, I know.
I’m right there with you! My two older brothers loved. loved. to scare me!!
It was not until I had kids and HAD to get up and walk around in the middle of the night that I finally got over my fear of the dark…
You are really in for it with those two! :)
Ok, either my family was super nice or your family is totally twisted. I never had these hand/ghost finger/demon stories told to me. Yikes!!
Freaky pictures, indeed.
Honey buns, it’s true – someone or something grapped my finger when I was a lil glal.
Mom, STOP!
I had TOTALLY forgotten about Bloody Mary! Super freaky stuff, man.
I had these similar fears growing up and even now, as an adult, I still cannot kneel next to my bed to say my prayers.
(Bloody Mary was the WORST!)
LOL, it’s so nice to hear that I’m not the only one with these silly fears. Bloody Mary is just awful. Sometimes I still get creeped out by my bathroom mirror if I have to get up in the middle of the night, and everything is dark.
This post put a big smile on my face. love staring my day with a big smile. you might be able to expect a lifetime of them scaring the _____ out of you…. but also a lot of laughs to come with it..
