Things That Make Me Smile: My Family

Family09-candid

A couple of weeks ago, Raya took the most incredible family photos of us. I want to keep the rest of the set under wraps until we gift them to grandparents, but I can’t help posting this outtake. Because it makes me smile.

Dax is dramatically telling us he wants more gumdrops (bribery food) and Ryan is trying to get Kai to stop shooting pretend missiles out of his hand. What tickles me is that we were supposed to be playing with the kids, and trying to make them laugh for the camera.

I completely understand how you feel. My girls are at the same age. Ask them to sit for a photo session and they transform into two wild and crazy kids. My favorite toddler bribe are smarties candies. Just the sound of the wrapper gets Alina to pause and look at the camera, but by the end of the shoot she’s usually on a sugar high.

Love it! In our house it was all about lollipops. PS: Good to see you back. I hope you’re enjoying the season.

Yeah that whole laughing thing kind of backfired on me…okay bigtime backfired. But hey! We got plenty of good ones & this gem, which really tells the real story of how things tend to go. Demanding candy & shooting pretend missiles – they’re still adorable.

Candid pictures are so awesome! Simply because they show the real side of what’s actually going on. I love it and can’t wait to see the rest!

Thank you everyone! Raya did such a great job, especially considering the window of maybe 15 minutes in which my children were cooperating!
